Leaks

Call us at AMS Plumbing & Heating to schedule an appointment so that we can determine the work required to get your plumbing back to working as expected.

If you are like many homeowners, you might go years without experiencing any plumbing problems. Then one day, you see or hear water leaking. Address this problem sooner rather than later. If you are lucky, it may be that a washer is worn in your faucet. Replacing it is an easy fix.

However, if you allow early warning signs to languish, it may warp into a much worse and costly repair later. You likely have a more serious problem if you notice:

  • Curling floors
  • Loose tile
  • Peeling paint
  • Water stains
  • Mold Spots
  • Loose faucet or toilet base
  • Deteriorating Caulk
  • Rotting Plywood
  • Standing water
  • Recurring dampness

Faucets are mechanical and eventually leak. Caulking is exposed to varying conditions and eventually cracks. The cost of the fixture and the labor to properly mount and re-caulk are moderate repair investments that should last a long time.

Slightly more tricky issues arise when shower doors, splash guards, shower fixtures or faucets are not properly aligned and sealed. These problems are not as easily detected by the laymen but are relatively moderate fixes.

The bigger challenges occur when your fixture isn’t properly leveled. A radiator should be slightly pitched back towards the source of the steam. Showers and tubs should be pitched to drain. Toilet flange and wax ring should be leveled in a way to not cause leakage to the subfloor or joists.

Problems that are behind walls or below fixtures are harder to detect, often require structural fixes and tend to be the most time consuming. The good news is that AMS Plumbing & Heating has the expertise to quickly handle small and large plumbing issues. We are a certified installer of the leak detection system by FloLogic. Contact us to determine if an electronic home leak detection system is the right solution for you.

Whether you notice leaks or its damage at the drain, tile, radiator, water heater, toilet, tub spout, faucet, tub, frame, or shower, we have 30 years of experience repairing plumbing. There will be times when our fix involves re-grouting or caulking; other times, we may need to replace the flange, washer, wax ring, washers, gasket or bolts; some jobs may involve leveling or pitching to allow proper drainage. The most involved jobs may require replacing faucets, fixtures, water heaters, piping or doing some sub-floor or in-wall structural work. In any instance, we do only what is necessary to address your problem and provide you with a worry-free solution. Call today to join our growing list of satisfied customers.
